This is so rare. I’ve never seen another one like this with high chair and play pen combined. This Classic Thonet Bentwood High Chair folds down to a Play Chair from Late Victorian Era, circa 1860-1890. It is made from handwoven cane on the seat and back which provides both comfort and keeps the item lightweight. The quality of the cane on the back of the chair is very well kept. The cane on the seat is good however it does have some markings which add interest and intrigue to the item. This highchair still has some of its original shellac and is stable, hardy and durable. The front tray lifts up and the chair is easily placed into play chair position for child to have access to counting beads. The chair has been used as you would expect with its age, yet is still in remarkable condition and has incredible character and a long life ahead perhaps another 120-140 years.
